What was the increase from 2000 to 2011?

Goal 7: Ensure Environmental sustainability Population using improved drinking water sources Why had some countries increased very fast up? Because other countries are helping them and in Afghanistan very fast, because the US army helped the Afghan government to make better infrastructure. Why is the improved drinking water increase so important? Because the population is growing, so they need more drinking water, also they became more healthier and they didn’t had to walk miles to drinking water.

Which are the top 5 improved countries out of 15 worst (2000-2007) for slum population and by how much have they improved

Goal 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability

  • Based on the evidence on the graph below and on the scatter graph, if you would work for the UN, in which couintries would you still try to imrpove slum population?
  • When looking back to the heat map there were 4 countries in the Americas in the 15 worst. Why do you think was it only Argentina in the top 5 improved?

How has the percentage of urban slum population changed in these 15 countries since 2000?

Goal 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability

Questions to Consider: 1.Find the countries with the most dramatic decrease in slum population, what could their geographic location have to do with this? 2.Compare the change over time for the Central African Republic and Uganda, how are they different how might their location impact this?

How does the proportion of the urban slum population using improved sanitation affect the condition of life in slums?

Goal 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability

Question to Consider: 1.Look at the correlation between the two indicators, what kind of correlation is it mostly (direct or inverse, or none)? What does this tell us? 2.If you were working in the UN, based on this evidence, would you continue to make improved sanitation a priority in solving the problem of slum population?
